CBS Outdoor has appointed Simon Harrington as Marketing and Business Development Director for the UK.
Reporting to Mike Moran, CBS Outdoor UK MD, the role will see Simon responsible for developing an overall strategy for the company’s external brand profile, by injecting high levels of creativity and innovation into brand positioning and thereby reinforcing the unique properties and audience CBS Outdoor UK delivers to advertisers. The role will also encompass a seat on the UK Operating Board in order to help facilitate and set overall strategy, deliverables and ensure all areas embrace collective decisions.
Prior to joining CBS Outdoor, Simon has held a number of consultancy roles, the most recent being with News International, where he was the Director of Promotions across the News of the World and the Sun. Here, Simon reported in to the CMO and was responsible for developing and implementing a new integrated promotional strategy across both titles to support brand repositioning and deliver a sales uplift to exceed monthly circulation targets.
Simon has also held various marketing positions at the Telegraph Media Group, the last being the Head of Marketing and Promotions. This role involved the development, implementation and communication of both the marketing and promotional strategies with the three fold objective of driving newspaper sales, on-line traffic and revenue. Simon was also responsible for brand guardianship for all in-paper creative, trade communications and external advertising and had management responsibility for marketing, promotions and design teams.
Before this, Simon was the Marketing Manager for WHSmith Travel Retail, where he led the development, delivery and communication of WHSmith Travel’s marketing programme across all categories.

Simon holds a BA, Joint Honours in French & Spanish, from the University of Liverpool.
