Advertising outside of London
London may be the host city for the Olympic Games, but 2012 will bring a sense of euphoria and national pride which will spread way beyond the capital.
LOCOG is determined that the Olympic spirit is not just confined to London and is organising a series of live events and screen broadcasts in major conurbations throughout the UK.
Whether a cutural or sporting nature, these events can't fail to galvanise the interest and participation of our wider population and so extend the 'feel good factor'.
Many key sporting events will also take place at venues outside the capital. Football is widely considered to be Britain's national sport and for the first time, Team GB will be entering a football team into the competition. Early rounds will be hosted across the country in a number of stadia as far a field as Glasgow, Newcastle, Cardiff and Manchester. These matches will bring the Olympic experience to the wider community and soccer fans will be sure to flock to these venues to be part of the Games.
Some of Team GB's biggest medal hopes will in fact be contested outside of London. The last few years have seen Britain enjoy huge success in both the fields of Rowing and Sailing. Eton Dorney Rowing Centre at Dorney Lake is a world-class venue that will be used for the Rowing events during the London 2012 Games. Whilst, 14 days of Sailing competitions will offer plenty of excitement and drama in the beautiful but testing waters of Weymouth Bay, on the south coast of England. Led by triple gold medal-winner Ben Ainslie CBE, Team GB has topped the Sailing medals table at the last three Olympic Games. British sailors will be hoping to repeat the feat at London 2012.
As with venues in London, all spectators travelling to events in other counties will be encouraged to use public transport. Our National Rail and Bus networks will ensure that visitors are well connected no matter where they are arriving from. We have a range of advertising opportunities across our national portfolio that allow you to target audiences of a discrete nature whether they be football fanatics, yachties or supporters of our famous rowing teams. Alternatively, you might want to reach a wider audience and broadcast your message to a nation full of pride and excitement through the ubiquity of Bus.
