New COO for UK and Ireland

Andrew Oldham

Following a period of intense pitching and contract renewal in Italy, Holland, France and the UK, culminating in the London Underground win, Viacom Outdoor announces an important new development in its senior management structure, to consolidate and develop its media assets. The new International structure sees the company’s senior management roles move to geographic responsibility across three international regions, with the appointments of three COO’s each reporting to Tom Goddard, CEO, with effect from January 1, 2007.

Andrew Oldham (pictured), currently joint managing director of the UK business, steps up to the newly created role of COO for the UK and Ireland. In his new role he will oversee all day to day aspects of the business and will be responsible for delivering the business plan in the two countries.

Commenting on the new role, Tom Goddard says, “I am delighted to announce Andrew’s promotion to COO. With nine years experience in outdoor, Andrew has a proven track record of management. He led our successful bid for the recent London Underground contract and is well placed to take the company forward into new opportunities in the coming years.“

Andrew Oldham comments, “There has never been a more exciting time for the company in both the UK and in Ireland. We are entering a period of intense competition for contracts, for advertising revenue and for share versus other media. I think we have a fantastic team in both countries, and I am proud to take on this new role.”

In the UK, the other joint MD Tim Bleakley expands his role to become UK MD, sales and marketing. In addition to his UK duties, Bleakley will also take overall responsibility for the International sales.

The Republic of Ireland senior management team and their Northern Ireland counterparts now all report to Andrew Oldham.

Other changes affecting the International division are as follows. Clive Punter , currently joint COO of Viacom Outdoor International, will take on the new role of COO, Asia. Viacom Outdoor entered China last year with a joint venture and sells bus advertising in Beijing. Punter is being seconded to China to oversee the existing business during the lead-up to the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and head the company’s expansion plan across the Asian region.

Guillaume Prot, who is currently Punter’s opposite number as co-COO, Viacom Outdoor International, moves to become COO, continental Europe. He will be responsible for leading the businesses in France, Italy, Netherlands and Spain. The local managing directors in each of those countries will report to Prot.

At the same time Mark Pettler, currently delivery director, Viacom Outdoor UK, takes on an expanded international role, being promoted to international operations director. He will help coordinate best practice in products, innovations, procurement, operational processes and logistics.

Finally Helen Goldberg joins the team as international director of legal and business affairs. Goldberg joins from Miva Media, the NASDAQ listed internet company where she was European legal director. Prior to that Goldberg worked in senior roles in the London and Sydney offices of Baker & McKenzie.
